In Japan, there are many traditional handicrafts with a strong local flavor, nurtured by the culture and history of the land. When picking up a traditional handicraft, it seems that along with warmth, the earnest temperament of the artisan that made it is conveyed as well. At « The Artisan’s Life » Exhibition held at Corridor Gallery 28, beautiful handicrafts are exhibited, together with the tools used by artisans day and night and the materials that tell of the process. Also, from Tokyo’s traditional handicraft « Edo woodblock prints », landscape prints from the Edo period, when artisanal culture blossomed, and from Hiroshige’s « Meisho Edo Hyakkei, » have been selected to be exhibited alternately depending on each season. Please enjoy the scenery that the artisans of the past likely saw as well.
