The “Spring of Life” Exhibition will be held at the Park Hotel Tokyo, as the 16th ART colours Exhibition, which gives an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Japan’s four seasons in an artistic context.
Spring is the season of melting snow, and “Spring of Life” is the advent of spring in human life.
This is a season which, somewhere between reality, the ideal and delusion, is fun, but also frustrating. It is a season which marks inner conflict, and is also full of contradictions.
We all remember the delusions and desires of our youth. When we were young, they were a reality which never escaped us, and remain engraved in a corner of our heart as memories that never vanish, that are always with us. They are also emotions of the heart that have a great impact on the deep recesses of our mind, men and women, young and old. One of the facets of art is to try to faithfully capture this indefinable transition.
This exhibition, which takes its inspiration from the Park Hotel Tokyo’s concept of “Infinite time and space amid cognizant Japanese beauty”, will use the entire lounge on the 25th Floor with the Reception.
It features contemporary artists at the forefront, together with hand-painted Ukiyoe artists who capture the customs of youth in the Edo Period. Works which reveal “Spring of Life” as captured by each artist, which transcend ages and genres, will be on display throughout the hotel. At the exhibition venue, explore the positive feeling of spring flowing from the atrium ceiling, and enjoy viewing the works while you are served with desserts and tea. In the evening, we offer original cocktails associated with the works on display, and there’ll also be a projection mapping of the works on exhibit as its motif, on the 30m high wall.
This magical season, also the start of most schools and companies in Japan, is full of feelings like those of youth, with its trepidations and expectations. We hope you’ll enjoy spring at the Park Hotel Tokyo.
