Room #3427 | Completion Date: 2022.01
Flowers and grasses are the motifs of this work, as I wanted people to take the time to stop and enjoy the simple things in life.
We often overlook the flowers and grasses along the roadside. Yet, looking back at Japanese culture, people found value in such plants and took them into their daily lives not only as something practical but also as something aesthetic. I adore this sensibility and wish to pass it on to the present.
One of the cultural forms of flowers and grasses is the patterns seen in family crests and the designs on kimonos. Even when the motif is the same grass, various patterns are created by slightly changing the shape and color. I believed that such diversity is what makes them attractive and enjoyable. Flowers and grasses painted throughout the room are inspired by such patterns.
I hope you will enjoy a tranquil moment with the colors of the room that gradually change with the weather and time.
