Park Hotel Tokyo welcome guests with hospitality in the form of “arrangement”, one of Japan’s aesthetic values, expressed through the medium of art. As part of this initiative, we hold ART colours, a series of art exhibitions representing the four seasons of Japan.
The exhibition from winter 2023 to spring 2024 will be curated by CINQ ARTS, which aims to create a sustainable society through art, and will feature artworks by the winning artists of the “ART Notes of 100 people” project organized by CINQ ARTS.
In addition to the rule of 17 syllables (5, 7, 5), there is also the rule of including a seasonal word in a haiku. Seasonal words are words that describe the season in which the haiku is written. The titles, “Mountain Sleeps, Mountain Laughs,” are seasonal words for winter and spring, respectively. The Northern Song Dynasty painter Guo Xi’s “Shanshui Kun” says, “Spring mountains are pale and laughing, summer mountains are green and dripping. The autumn mountains are as bright and clean as a makeup, and the winter mountains are as pale and miserable as sleep.
Artworks sometimes seem to look completely different depending on the season, weather, temperature, or mood of the moment. The ” ART Notes of 100 people books” is a project to make art more accessible by creating notebooks of artists’ artworks. 100 different notebooks by 100 artists and original artworks by award-winning artists are available for you to choose from. Please try to find your favorite piece of art. The piece you choose today may not be the same as the one you are interested in tomorrow. We invite you to experience the “here and now” through art, and to resonate with art at this exhibition.
